Travelling Ads - the people who offer advertising space on and in Thames Travel buses - have expanded their Advertising services to include both the Didcot FC ground, Wallingford Sports Park and the AFC Wallingford ground. Pitch Boards are the main advertising media at the grounds with bronze,
silver and gold packages available to suit every budget.

The Wallingford pitch this year gives you a 'double whammy' opportunity as Thame are playing

Waitrose: Update

A statement from Janey Berry, Head of Press and PR for Waitrose,

ï Assurance that Waitrose will implement the changes in layout of the store that were recommended in the postopening review of 7th June.

ï Also ìI must stress we have no plans to add the types of ranges that have been suggested, such as large electrical goods, clothing and other such non-food ranges.î

ï She agreed to give attention to other issues, such as access and signage to make the entrance in St Martinís Street easier to find, and clear signs to ìThe Town Centre shopsî in the Car Park. Also to look into providing a ëwalk-throughí between the checkouts at both ends of the store.

ï Parking: ìThe St Albans car park has been changed from three hours to two. Our experience and research tells us that generally customers take on average 45-60 minutes to carry out a main ìfamilyî shop in one of our stores. This allows a further one-hour to visit the town and its shopsî.

The Future of the Town Centre

Paul Earley, SODC Senior Economic Development Officer explained that at a time of increasing local concern amongst retailers in the town, the District Council has commissioned John Lockwood, who is a retail specialist, to undertake an appraisal of Wallingford town centre, with an emphasis on retail matters.

The intention is to identify the various factors, which influence the performance of Wallingford town centre and its local businesses, with a view to suggesting what could be done to make local improvements.

A similar appraisal has recently been carried out in Henley and Thame. This work should complement the initiatives being pursued by Wallingford Town Council and Wallingford Business Partnership.

The Council is very keen to ensure that Wallingford maintains and improves its economic vitality and viability. I am hoping that a report will be available towards the end of July, which will identify to the Council the measures that might need to be considered to ensure the townís continued prosperity.
